Nominations sought for Iowa Business Hall of Fame
The Greater Des Moines Committee is accepting nominations for the 2017 Iowa Business Hall of Fame. Each year the Greater Des Moines Committee honors the achievements of Iowans who have made outstanding contributions to the development and enhancement of Iowa’s business climate. Inductees are honored during the Greater Des Moines Committee’s Black Tie Dinner held each December, and are recognized in video online via the Iowa Business Hall of Fame website:iowabusinesshalloffame.com. Nominations will be accepted until the close of business on (or must be postmarked by) July 21, 2017. Sucher named Magistrate for Cedar County
The Honorable Judge Trey Sucher, an eastern Iowa attorney with law offices in West Liberty, Perry and Marshalltown, will now also serve as Magistrate for Cedar County, Iowa. His four-year term of service commences Aug. 1, 2017. Sucher is a graduate of The University of Iowa College of Law (2010) and Urbandale High School (2003). Trey Sucher Law specializes in immigration law, as well as a wide array of criminal and civil matters.
Small Business Success Summit
The Greater Des Moines Partnership is pleased to announce its inaugural Small Business Success Summit. The 2017 event, themed Smashing the Barriers, will be the premier business conference of 2017. The summit will host keynote speakers, workshops and breakout sessions on a variety of timely topics that affect business owners and managers. The Small Business Success Summit will take place on Friday, Nov. 10 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the FFA Enrichment Center, 1055 S.W. Prairie Trail Parkway in Ankeny. Registration is $79 and includes keynotes, breakout sessions, access to resources, meals including breakfast and lunch and a closing reception with hors d’oeuvres. Firm earns commercial roofing designation
Firestone Building Products Company, LLC, presented Bailey Roofing Contractors Inc. with the 2017 Silver Master Contractor award and the Inner Circle of Quality award, both of which are distinguished honors in the commercial roofing industry. The local Urbandale firm is in the top 5 percent of Firestone Building Products Red Shield Licensed Roofing Contractors to earn the distinction.
United Way of Central Iowa board of directors welcomes six new members
United Way of Central Iowa’s board of directors has approved the addition of six members who joined on July 1, 2017, for a two-year term. Tom Mahoney, chairman and CEO of ITA Group, was named board chair, and Nora Everett, president of retirement and income solutions at Principal, became chair-elect.
