“Sustainable Business in Iowa”
Local author and sustainability expert, Adam Hammes, released his second book in January, “Sustainable Business in Iowa: How Leading Companies Profit from Environmental and Social Responsibility.” The book is a primer on designing and implementing profitable corporate sustainability programs. More than 30 Iowa businesses have initiatives highlighted in chapter case studies. Business colleges across Iowa are adopting
it as a textbook for their classrooms to make the topic more relevant to students. Hammes has been teaching CSR and Sustainability to evening MBA students at the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business for five years. He became the first corporate manager of sustainability for Kum & Go in 2010. He left in 2014 to consult and launch the Iowa Sustainable Business Forum (ISBF), a local industry association for sharing best practices business-to-business. Today, Hammes acts as the ISBF executive director, consults, speaks and writes on corporate environmental and social responsibility. ♦
