A new West Des Moines barbershop called “Scissors and Scotch” is set to give haircuts, facial hair trims and men’s grooming procedures — while serving Scotch. The new shop is scheduled to open next month in the Paradise Pointe shopping center on Mills Civic Parkway near Jordan Creek Town Center next to Firebirds Wood Fired Grill. The idea originally came to life 13 months ago in Omaha and caters specifically to men. There will be plush sofas in the lounge area along with a full bar, including six craft beers. There will also be more than 30 types of scotch to choose from, and customers will receive a free drink after getting a grooming service. The new men’s salon will have 10 chairs.

Major changes are coming for the Apple Store at Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines. The store is tripling its space by taking over the former Brookstone space to its west, and the Clarks shoe store to the east. While renovations are underway, Apple’s interim home will be in the former New York & Company, which recently closed. Five months of construction are anticipated. The new space will total more than 7,000 square feet. The renovations continue a nationwide trend for Apple. The company is updating many of its stores to include larger Genius Bars that aid patrons with various Apple products.

Unique approach to health coming to West Des Moines

Drs. Megan and Adam Ries will open Keystone Chiropractic on May 2 at 2900 University Ave. in West Des Moines. “Keystone Chiropractic is not your typical chiropractic office,” said Dr. Megan Ries. “While conventional chiropractors simply focus on reducing muscular spasms, increasing range of motion, and temporarily reducing pain, we focus on narrowing in on the source of your secondary conditions (symptoms) by means of NeuroStructural Correction.”

Drs. Ries utilize state-of-the-art equipment to determine the presence of a Structural Shift of the spine, which can often be the underlying cause of numerous secondary conditions that a person may be experiencing. If Structural Shifts are detected, Drs. Ries create a personalized plan to correct these abnormalities. Keystone Chiropractic offers a complimentary consultation with the doctor to determine if it is the right fit for your health needs. Call 515-428-1545, visit www.keystonechirodsm.com or find it on Facebook.
